Dear Desktop Engineering Reader:
If truth be told, the folks at Alibre sometimes drive people nuts practicing aggressive, in-your-face marketing. What many do not want to acknowledge is that Alibre also practices aggressive R&D. The latest fruits of Alibre's R&D are now available in version 9.0 of their flagship product Alibre Design, announced a couple of weeks ago.
3D parametric solid modeling; parametric sketching; interference detection; 3D sketching; unlimited parts in assemblies; associative 2D drafting; associative bills of materials; STEP, IGES, SAT data exchange; real-time online support; and software maintenance. And that's the base package.
Sheet metal, rendering, ALGOR Design Check, MSC.VisualNastran Motion, data management, and other neat stuff is available in the next two levels.
Alibre Design 9.0 is a hard-core MCAD system at a wallet-friendly price, even if you opt for its top-shelf Design Expert package: Prices range from $995 to $1795. That sort of pricing is going to drive some people nuts.
Speaking of wallet friendly, you can check out Alibre Design 9.0 by clicking here to register for a 30-day free trial. Want more details? Go to our write up below or forget that nutty idea and click here to go to the Alibre website directly.
Thanks, Pal -- Lockwood
