Artificial Larynx Developer Speeds Design to Manufacturing Cycle with Alibre Design Software

RICHARDSON, Texas, February 24, 2005 - Griffin Laboratories (www.griffinlab.com), a California designer and manufacturer of medical devices for speech pathologists, upgrades from AutoCAD LT to 3D with Alibre Design to expedite design to manufacturing cycles and improve communications with suppliers.

While evaluating Alibre Design, co-founder Cliff Griffin spent about two hours on Alibre Design tutorials and was then able to design 10 or so parts within a half hour of first using the product. He found that the software capably handled all of the design tasks at his company with room to spare. Griffin credits the software's clear interface and ease of use for the short learning curve.

Many companies with large amounts of legacy 2D data are concerned about making the move to 3D and potentially losing much of that investment. After ten years of operation, Griffin Laboratories was no exception.

"I was impressed at how efficiently we were able to convert our legacy drawings," states Griffin. "Having our designs in 3D was well worth the conversion effort. I no longer have to edit numerous views. Instead, I click on the dimension that needs changing, type in the new value, and I'm done."

"Griffin Laboratories is representative of hundreds of thousands of small businesses that today primarily rely on 2D CAD systems such as AutoCAD LT and AutoCAD for drafting," states Greg Milliken, Alibre president and CEO. "Through a unique combination of ease of use, affordability and complete 3D modeling tools, Alibre Design is enabling this large market to realize the benefits of professional 3D CAD that were previously too difficult or expensive."

Alibre develops and markets Alibre Design, a parametric 3D solid modeler for mechanical design and manufacturing. One-fifth the cost of comparable software, Alibre Design delivers ease-of-use, rich functionality, extensive tutorials and unique real-time support via the Alibre Assistant. Customers may also share and edit product designs in real time with integrated online tools. Alibre Design is available in seven languages and distributed around the world. Founded in 1997, Alibre Inc. is privately funded and based in Richardson, Texas. For more information, visit www.alibre.com.
